Beyond Grateful: Activating Great-Full Consciousness and the Four-Fold Power of PEMS
For years, we’ve been told to practice gratitude, often turning it into a mandatory list of things we appreciate. But what if we told you there’s a deeper, more powerful spiritual state? We call it GREAT-FULL Consciousness: the active realization that you are already filled with inexhaustible, abundant tools, principles, and intuitive connections that allow you to experience an amazing life here in skin school?
This shift from being merely "grateful" for something to the recognition that you truly are "GREAT-FULL" is not just philosophical; it fundamentally rewires your entire human system and transforms your journey through life. The Scientific Validation: Psychoneuroimmunoendocrinology
It’s not just us saying this! The deep validation for GREAT-FULLness comes from a powerful field of scientific study: Psychoneuroimmunoendocrinology (PNIE). [Whew! That’s a long word!] When you break this long word down, it simply describes the inseparable unity of your mind (psycho), nervous system (neuro), immune system (immuno), and hormone system (endocrinology). Fortunately, this long word has a shortcut: PNIE.
PNIE confirms that every conscious thought, particularly one rooted in abundance and peace, instantly translates into chemical and physical changes. A moment of GREAT-FULLness isn't a passive feeling—it is an active biological intervention that changes your chemistry for the better.

The Gratitude Symphony Metaphor for PNIE
TO help you better understand the role and value of PNIE, think of it through a metaphor of a Symphony Orchestra, where Gratitude is the Conductor. Here’s a breakdown:
Component | Role in Body | Role in GREAT-FULLness |
|---|---|---|
The Conductor | Consciousness (Psycho) | This is your Great-Full Consciousness, the intention and focus that directs the entire system. |
The Score | Nervous System (Neuro) | The pathways and electrical signals that transmit the Conductor's intention (e.g., releasing positive signals like dopamine). |
The Woodwinds/Horns | Endocrine System | The Hormones (chemical messengers) that set the tone and volume. Gratitude prompts the release of calming hormones (oxytocin) instead of stress hormones (cortisol). |
The Percussion | Immune System | The powerful, responsive Defense Force. When the rest of the orchestra is in harmony (Great-Full), the percussion (immunity) is strong and well-regulated |
Reflection Question: How does this metaphor resonate with me, and help me use gratitude to support my GREAT-FULL Consciousness?
The Four-Fold Impact of Great-Fullness (PEMS)
We’ve created a new model to use to help you recognize four key aspects of just about anything related to your skin school experience. We call it The PEMS Effect, which looks at how the issue is affected from a Physical, an Emotional, a Mental, and a Spiritual perspective.
P | Physical
GREAT-FULLness acts as an internal balm for the body by directly managing your stress response. Consistent practice is proven to activate the parasympathetic nervous system (the "calm and connect" mode), significantly reducing the production of the stress hormone cortisol. This hormonal stability is key to enhancing the function of your immune system and is why people who practice Great-Fullness consistently report better sleep quality and lower levels of inflammatory biomarkers linked to disease. Recognizing the impact of GREAT-FULLness has been shown to improve heart health, lower blood pressure, increase energy, and enhance immune system.

E | Emotional
The act of recognizing your inherent ability to control a large part of your experience stimulates the brain’s primary reward centers, leading to a healthy, natural release of dopamine and serotonin. This chemical lift fortifies your emotional core. A GREAT-FULL Consciousness serves as a powerful buffer, enabling you to encounter friction and challenges with a resilient outlook, rather than sinking into despair. In essence, it trains your emotions to default toward peace rather than panic, actively lowering feelings of anxiety and depression. Recognizing the impact of GREAT-FULLness has been shown lessen anxiety, reduce stress, enhance resilience, boost self-esteem, and improve relationship connections.
M | Mental
GREAT-FULL Consciousness is a mental training regimen. Neuroscience, often utilizing fMRI scans, shows that active gratitude strengthens neural pathways in the Prefrontal Cortex (PFC)—the center for decision-making and emotional regulation. This practice actively counters the brain’s natural negativity bias, which is designed to focus on threats. By intentionally shifting your focus to evidence of Principle (Order, Supply, Wholeness), you literally rewire your brain to seek the positive, leading to greater mental clarity and optimism. Recognizing the impact of GREAT-FULLness has been shown to improve decision-making, empathy, and emotional regulation, leading to long-term improvements in cognitive functions.
S | Spiritual
At this level, Great-Fullness transcends inventory and becomes realization. It is the conscious acknowledgment that you are a vibrant, powerful expression of the Infinite Field of Potential, the Ground of All Beingness, and possess infinite and inexhaustible access to the Principles, Practices, Tools, and Divine Ideas available in The Field of Infinite Potential. A GREAT-FULL Consciousness fosters a profound sense of unity and purpose, leading to higher levels of Flourishing, Thriving, and Life Satisfaction. By realizing that you are connected to the boundless Principle of Supply, you stop chasing finite things and stand secure in the GREAT-FULL reality of your complete life. Recognizing the impact of GREAT-FULLness has been shown to enhance spiritual maturity, strengthen your focus and mindfulness, reduce worry and fear, promote inner peace, and understand your connectedness with the whole.
Your Spiritual Practice for the Week: The Divine Idea Scavenger Hunt

This week, we invite you to stop listing material objects for which you are grateful, and start identifying the Principle of GREAT-FULL which is present within you..
The Goal: To accumulate evidence that the Principle you need most is already active and abundant within you.
